Incana Tutorial

This model is a decorative variation of Inca and requires some additional steps beyond the Inca unit. Instructions for Inca can be found here: https://www.xanderperrott.com/tutorials#/inca-tutorial/

Step 1

Fold the Inca unit and unfold completely.

Step 2

Reverse the diagonal crease shown and extend in one direction so it meets the corner of the paper.

Step 3

Extend the same fold on the other side of the paper as well.

Step 4

Fold in the bottom left and top right corners. The corner should meet the diagonal fold and the horizontal edge should be parallel to the edge just above or below respectively.

Step 5

Refold the shape of the inca module up to step 8, but don’t fold in the triangles as in step 9.

Step 6

Lift up the paper in the middle using the folds made in step 2 and 3.

Step 7

Fold and unfold the little triangles now (as in step 9 of Inca) and also make the loose paper symmetrical by squishing the paper between the two mountains using a valley fold (It may help to do one at a time while putting the other side down because they overlap).

Step 8

To assemble two units arrange as shown. Use the little triangle as a flap which will go beyond the fold in the other unit.

Step 9

Slide the units together.

Step 10

Making the mountain fold where the units overlap more crisp will help the units lock together (the little triangle will be trapped around the fold). For this reason it is recommended to use 3 sided mountains and 5 petalled flowers. You will need 30 units.

VARIATION

Make the folds in step 4 on the other side of the paper to get a small colour change.
